Tessie, to see see
From the ashened questions we let burn out, Pheen-X tries to bring these questions back to life, with an inferno of answers. The question, Tessie. One of my favorite topics, creatures, and lovely oddities. Yet, many don't know too much about the old girl. Well, her story, is just like of any large, scaly, pink lizard water creature.
It all starts about 60 years before 199X, in the area near summers. A little girl had recently went to a nearby candy store and bought a large, strangly round piece of strawberry taffy. When she got home with it, she learned an old technique that placing taffy in water to make it more flavorful and juicy. So she grabbed a small fishbowl from her attic, washed it, and placed the gob of taffy into it with a filling of cold water. She was then called away to go see a movie with her family (I don't know, something black and white).
While away, the gob seemed to move, wiggle even. after a few minutes of wiggles, something bit out of the large gob, a tiny little sea serpent. The little creature found the taffy highly enjoyable and ate and ate and ate, becoming majorly sweet.
Soon the girl returned to see the little serpent instead of her taffy laying within the water. At first she was a little angry, until the creature let out a soft "See, see" This couldn't be avoided, and the girl was swooned. It was strange, she's never seen a creature like her, or as pink. Most rumored serpents were mean and cruel, but this one was so sweet.
"What should I name you though?" She had to think, but then remembered the brand of taffy she bought "Tessila, would that work?"
The serpent shook her head "see, see!"
"Tessie?" the serpent swam with joy over the new name "Tessie huh, sounds cute, it fits you." that day, the girl and creature became good friends. She told her secrets and stories to Tessie, and the serpent would reply in aquatic dances. At first it was confusing learning what to feed her, so she just kept buying her taffy, the same strawberry kind she was found in. This is what explains why Tessie holds a permanent smile on her face, she got her lips stuck from too much taffy mixing with the water she loved to swim in.
Years passed, and the serpent grew larger and larger. "you know Tessie, someday, I dream of being surrounded by books." the girl said one day "Do you have any dreams like that?"
The serpent aimed her neck to the window nearby "See, see" her tone was saddened. Her eyes locked to the water.
"O-oh. You weren't saying...see. You were saying...sea." The girl started to feel saddened herself, feeling like she hasn't been listening to her friend. "this weekend...I promise to let you free." Tessie aimed a surprise look at the girl, seeing a tear fall down her face, moving closer to her to comfort.
The weekend came, and she left her house at midnight, when no one was around. She placed the bowl in the water, and Tessie gladly traded liquids, soon growing a new, purple tone to her scales. Her smile was greater, and she turned to thank the girl, seeing she'd left. She floated away sadly that night, yet holding that hidden joy of being free.
Many years passed after that, and the girl, now woman, constantly visited the beach she had released her old friend, dropping a piece of taffy to the sea every midnight she visited. Her gifts would go rewarded.
One day she visited the beach, with her young daughter with her. They both shared a peice of taffy with the sea, her daughter excited over her mothers stories. That night, they recieved a shock as a giant sea lizard revealed itself from the water, nibbling at the taffy and pushing it's head closer to the two. "Sea, sea!" The serpent recieved a large hug as she then picked to the two onto her head, to her back, going speedily to a nearby country.
"T-Tessie, where you goin girl?!" The serpent only smiled as she reached the sea edge of Eagleland, on the coast near Onett. "Tess, what are..." She placed the small family on a nearby beach, soon opening her mouth a little to drop a slip of paper, a flyer. "Ugh, it's all slimy, what is-" She stopped breathless as she read "Librarian wanted, Onett library, no experience required" She only shed a tear as she grasped the serpents head again lovingly. "y-you remember my dream....thank you"
"See, see!" she then sank below again. "Onett huh, I have a cousin that lives here, she should have plenty of room at her house."
The day after, she got the librarian job, reading book after book on anything marine related. Since then she was able to purchase her own home, returning to her old to retrieve old furniture of hers. To this day, her family still runs the Onett library. And Tessie, well, her smile is still rumored to appear for those sweet enough, and bearing sweets themselves.
