EB's World, and you're part of it!
This explanation is more personal. A lot of people surely feel the same way than me…
For me, what makes EarthBound a game so unique is his atmosphere. Some people will say “It’s only a game! How could it have an atmosphere?” Have you ever met someone who was always in his own little world? For example, an artist, a musician, or even a book’s reader. Well, this game is another world, which is just easy to be transported in. In fact, EarthBound teaches you how to be part of it own world. You could be as cold as ice, or just don’t like the game, and even with that, one play and you are part of it.
Even me, I became part of it, and before I played the game! I’m one of those who, after they saw Ness’ biography in Super Smash Bros., have taken the initiative to try the game. Only playing with Ness in SSB, and I was in EB’s world!
If you have ever gone on an EarthBound community web site, such as starmen.net, it is obvious that thousands of fans have been transported into the unique world of EarthBound. Even now, any game have ever succeed in recreate this own EB atmosphere. EarthBound is unique in his kind, and will remain the greatest game ever created. And if you don’t believe me, how can you explain all the petitions for a second EarthBound? The four soundtracks made for this game? Or the fact that if you ask any Nintendo game’s lover if he knows about Ness, he will say “yes”? This explains what mark EarthBound has left behind it. The world of EarthBound, as weird as it can sounds, is one of the greatest imaginative world ever created by a man.
