Through the years, EarthBound.net has stood the test of time. Or at least I'm pretty sure it has, considering I'm still rather new. What has kept a site about an old SNES game so popular?
It could be the game itself. But other games of equal value to EarthBound have fallen to the backburner against the newer, sleeker games of today. Not even games such as Chrono Trigger or the Final Fantasies of old can say that they have a site so dedicated to them.
The glue that has held EarthBound.net together is not the game, but the people that love the game. I have not been here long, but I have already sensed the great deal of friendship between the webmasters, the contributers, and just about anyone who likes EarthBound. Do you honestly go to #earthbound for the reason of just talking about the game? I bet not. You go to talk to your friends, joke around, and just have fun.
We are an online community all connected by the common bond of the love of a game in which you smack things with a frying pan, and throw Dirty Socks at enemies. Does that makes us all insane? Of course it does! But it is our combined insanity that will keep this community together for years to come.
