White Chalk on Paper

Today's lesson from SimonBob is on how to tell the difference between a Noose Man and a Thirsty Coil Snake. These two enemies seem very similar at first glance. They both inhabit the mole mine maze in the Dusty Dunes Desert, they're both long and thin, and they both give you experience points and make your dad put cash in your bank account.

But there are a few key differences to help you tell the difference. First of all, Thirsty Coil Snakes are red or pink, while Noose Men are brown. However, a Thirsty Coil Snake covered in dust could appear to be brown, while a Noose Man who was dumped in a bucket of paint could seem to be red or pink. Also, this is no help if you are colourblind.

Noose Men hang around in groups, rushing around and chattering and playing silly games like "Hang the Condemned Criminal" and "Bunny Boy, Bunny Boy." Thirsty Coil Snakes are loners, brooding in corners over a battered Charles Dickens novel and generally being angsty. When attacked or agitated, Noose Men will usually lash out and whip their assailants on the ankle, while Thirsty Coil Snakes will try to bite with their poisonous fangs. So if you feel something hitting you on the foot, it's a Noose Man, and if you're lying on the floor gradually getting weaker and weaker and eventually dying, it's a Thirsty Coil Snake.

Another enemy with a very similar name to the Thirsty Coil Snake is the Hungry Desert Wolf. The first word in each of their names is an adjective referring to their current state of nourishment; the last word is a noun describing their physical characteristics. But the middle word is different. "Coil" refers to the position that the Thirsty Coil Snake keeps its body in, while "Desert" refers to where the Hungry Desert Wolf lives.

Two enemies that are not very similar at all are the Clumsy Robot and the Great Crested Booka. One is a boss, the other is a normal enemy. One lives in Fourside and the other in Scaraba. One is electrical and the other is biological. Their attacks, exp. given, and patterns of motion are completely different. Why would anyone mistake these two for each other? For that matter, who can't tell the difference between a Noose Man, a Thirsty Coil Snake, and a Hungry Desert Wolf? Well, it seems to me that a lot of people don't know the rules for the forums, the chat, or for submitting stuff to the site. This article is for them. Even if you don't know better than to not swear in #eb or to not send me fanfics written in .doc, now you ought to know something, and that's more than before. Now go read those other rules and guidelines that you just skipped over before. They're at least as interesting and certainly more informative than this article.
