Earthbound, the Beautiful
Earthbound. What more do I need to say? Quite possibly, one of the greatest rpgs of our time. Many people say that as consoles get better, games get better, but I disagree, to a certain point. Sometimes I like to take out the old nintendo, and play the classics, the games that formed the enterprise. Take Mario 1, and 3 for example. (I left out Mario 2 because it is not a real Mario game, rather a Japanese game that they slapped Mario's face on)
I believe that Earthbound is one of the classics, just like in the days of yore, it does not have great graphics, but it isn't the graphics that count, it's the game. I f people would just pay more attention to it, it could be a rebirth for good rpgs. Squaresoft is pretty much on the dark side now, obsessed with pain and evil. Even though EB had an intergalactic destroyer, there was a sense of light-heartedness throughout. The death and the destruction that was the focus of FF7 will be lost to a realm of Earthbound. I'm not saying all rpgs should be like Earthbound, but maybe developers should lighten up, and leave to much drama for the movies.
