A Final Say About Giegue and Giygas
Hello, everybody. In the past year or so that EB0 has been out, I've noticed that a lot of people think that Giegue and Giygas are two separate aliens. Personally, I disagree. Here are a couple of reasons:
1) Notice the similarities between their two names. They even sound the same if you pronounce it, "Guy-gway". They also both start with "Gi".
2) They are both Universal Cosmic Destroyers. In EB0, it is (somewhere) stated that Giegue has savaged through many planets.
3) At the end of both EB and EB0, Giegue and Giygas are each in bubble-like formations. Giegue is in some kind of black bubble with red and blue tentacles around it. Giygas is in that little bubble in the Devil's Machine.
4) They are both in a secluded cave somewhere on Earth. Giegue is in the "XX" cave, and Giygas is in the Cave of the Past.
5) They're both aliens. Period.
6) They both hate love and goodness. Giegue hates Mary's song of love, and Giygas hates the good energy coming from Paula's prayers' responses.
One problem we may have with my theory is the fact that Giegue and Giygas' bodies look totally different. I may have an explanation; During the battle in EB0, if you will remember, Giegue looked like one of those famous "Gray" aliens, but with horns. After being brutally wounded in his battle in EB0, Giegue might have died in his "Gray" body, and later reincarnated himself in the red swirling body we see in EarthBound.
Now, you're probably wondering, "Ok desu ka. If they're the same person, why don't they have the same name?" Well, EB0 was never released in America. Therefore, Demi (the guy who I think translated EB0) may have been a poor translator. By the way, Giygas is a real word, with a few changes. In Webster's Dictionary, Gyges means, "Greek mythology. One of the Hecatonchires." Maybe Giegue means Gyges in Japanese. So, after all of this, I hope we can all see that Giygas and Giegue are one.
