When is Earthbound? Part 1
We all know when Earthbound takes place. It takes place in the year 199X, right? I mean it's kind of obvious, right? It tells you in the opening scene. I mean, it couldn't be more obvious. Well, if you think about it, that really can't be. Now you are probably thinking ", What is this EBFan2000 guy talking about. Is he stupid or something. I mean, it says right in the game." I know it does, but when you think about it, it couldn't have been in 199X. Once you weigh the facts, you will realize that maybe 200X would be more likely. To help you find the key words that help back this, I will use a star (*) to mark them.
The first reason I feel that Earthbound takes place a little bit after tis says is because the world of Earthbound is missing something. It is something that we could not possibly live without. In all of Earthbound, there are no TVs (well, one if you count the broken one in Tenda Village). How can this be? Well, there are two ways that I see this possible. The first possibility is maybe television suddenly became unpopular in the future*. The second, and more likely possibility is maybe the Y2K* bug was so bad that it wiped out television.
Another reason that I feel Earthbound takes place in the year 200X is something else that there is not a lot of in the game. This something is cars. There really is not a lot of cars in Earthbound, yet today, their everywhere. That's odd, right. How could this be. Well, you know how people today say that cars are ruining the enviroment. Well, maybe in the future*, this point of view spread so much, that cars almost became extinct.
